MY NEW PIANO or KEYBOARD! - Share Your Story! It's a question of how much more one is willing to pay for a better pianistic experience.ĭigital Pianos - Electronic Pianos - Synths &a. OTOH one cannot expect a piano in Ritmuller's price range to be the equal of a piano costing two, three, four or more times as much. I suspect he'd be more pleased with the latest models. The poster you quoted has a very old model Ritmuller which is probably significantly different from the latest models. As fun as a value priced instrument can be, they generally don't compete with the world's best. I have a Rittmuller from 2001 or 2 and I am disappointed to the point that I will be selling her.>Action is great, piano looks great, but at the end of the day.I look her in the face and say "It's not you it's me".great for somebody that is a intermediate player or somebody who just wants to play (again the action is great), but aT the end of the day, I find myself wanting to move on.Sometimes the value priced pianos get so much exposure on these forums people can forget there is a solid reason why the best pianos in the world are considered the best pianos in the world. I don't remember the details of the M&H quality shortly before the latest the Burgetts became owners, but some PW members will probably know more about Masons from this exact period.Īre there other dealers in your area you can visit in the next few weeks? Have you considered trying new grands like Hailun, Ritmuller, Brodmann ,and Cunningham? These are the makers whose grands I think would be in your price range and have gotten good reviews at PW and elsewhere. It is not uncommon to see pianos with a sign "on hold" at a dealer. Dealers usually realize that this is a big decision for many people so many people are somewhat hesitant. If you really love the piano(which seems to be the case) and the tech says it has no issues, you might be able to put a refundable(get this in writing) deposit on it to hold the piano for a week or two. It is desirable, as you hint, to try quite a few pianos before buying unless you are experienced enough with different makes/models to know that a piano is "the one" for a lifetime. While there is always a chance that the piano will sell quickly to someone else if you do not buy it after your tech inspects it, this is probably unlikely. This is going to be it for me probably for the rest of my life. But-buying a piano so quickly, without testing at least a dozen of them? I'm afraid to make a mistake as I cannot afford making a mistake. The sales person first asked $17,000 but dropped it by the end of my visit. My piano tuner and I are going to check the piano the price is $14,000.00. So, I've just started looking around, this store today is practically the first store I went to, and I fell in love with this piano. In a studio where I can practice, there is a Yamaha disklavier and I like that sound and touch unfortunately that one is out of my price range. I tried to play several S&S pianos, and they also seem a bit brash for me. It reminded me of an upright Petrof that I played at a friend's house years ago-the same sound which I never heard on another piano till today. It responded to my touch so well, and the sound was just soft as I imagined my piano would play. Today, I went to a store, and tried for the first time a Mason and Hamlin, 1990, model A, and I just loved the sound and the touch. While I liked the sound when I bought the piano, very soon, the sound became somewhat shap and bright for my taste. I bought it new in 1998 and enjoyed playing it ever since.

I am an intermediate player who plans to play piano for a very long time. Now, I am thinking of buying a baby grand and will appreciate your help and comments. I am a brand new member, thought I've frequented the site throughout the years.
